Ford Mustang Boss 302

Ford have decided to break the decades-long silence and reintroduce the Boss 302 to the Mustang lineup, 42 years after its original launch. They describe the external styling as 'subtle' (although, as the photos show, it's about as subtle as being jabbed in the eye with a lemon-dipped Mustang key), while the true magic is under the bonnet: a reworking of the 5.0-litre V8 yields 440bhp. The inevitable tweaks to suspension and brakes make it, they say, 'the quickest, best-handling straight-production Mustang ever'. Quite a claim, that. An even more hardcore special edition, the Boss 302 Laguna Seca, deletes the rear seats and adds fully-adjustable race suspension. Tasty.

Ford have developed a peculiar technique for showcasing new models - promo videos no longer feature constant jump-cuts between manic action shots, soundtracked by pumping techno - no, now we get lingering detail shots in near-silence. It's rather odd.
