Seems like a good reason to open up sales to other carriers. VZ for six months to do what they can then T-Mobile and Sprint to help boost the numbers before iP5.

I'm pretty sure I said "bolster the population," not "raise the birth rate." Making babies is only one way to increase the number of people in a certain area.

Sorry I cant find the answer when I searched. I see you can do the thunderbolt to an HDMI adapter but can it transmit audio?
This new imac will be replacing a mac mini that has hdmi out to my tv "in another room" so it is crucial that its transmits audio over hdmi as well...

ARG!!!!! 2G iPod Shuffle NOT in Stores On Friday!!!!!!!!
So I stopped by one of the apple stores in town today on my way to work. and well there were NO iPod shuffles in!!!! (but i missed the fact that there were 8GB red nanos, though i doubt they actually had any in stock!!) The guy working at the apple store said they 'might' be in by this afternoon or evening and they will 'hopefully' have enough stock to make it through the weekend, but 'there was a chance' that they wouldnt have any by sunday.

well here is the damage.
I cant get the old paste off the gpu as its baked on hard! I've managed to clean the heatsink of the remnants though.
Will applying a layer to the the GPU be enough? Will the remaining contact area of new paste be effective or is it FUBAR?
Rubbing alcohol (isopropyl) and qtips can't get more of the paste off? I've read about people using a razor blade before to scrape it off, or use acetone, or even a hair dryer. You might wait for someone with actual experience removing the old stubborn stuff to post a reply, I'm just repeating what I've read elsewhere.
I also see Artic Silver makes a 2 step cleaning kit http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835100010&nm_mc=OTC-Froogle&cm_mmc=OTC-Froogle-_-CPU+Thermal+Paste+/+Grease-_-Arctic+Silver-_-35100010

Apple know Vista's been coming for years, so they'll have Leopard ready. They've been working on the iPhone since before Tiger, so it's not like their R+D is suddenly going to drop in Mac development.
All of this 'what about the Mac' stuff is a little harsh. If Steve's got an Octo-Core Mac Pro coming in a few weeks, then he's not going to say so now.
Also, if Leopard isn't ready yet, and will be out in a few months, then not mentioning it is an awesome mind game. Bill gates was propbrably watching going "Uh...but- Vista and, err... what?"
Just have faith.
If nothing's changed in three months then quote me and pelt me with rotten fruit.

I think the 4 and 5 finger gestures where only being tested in 4.3 beta 1 and are not going to be in the public release of 4.3.
