Citroën Survolt
The Citroën Survolt looks kind of like a Bugatti Veyron that's been scrawled by a blindfolded child, and this is no bad thing - it looks stunning. Its swooping curves contain twin electric motors with a 124-mile range and, rather excitingly, 300bhp on tap in that eerily immediate way that, as the Tesla has shown us, is the bizarre reality of electric sports cars. It'll accelerate to 60mph in under five seconds and go on to a top speed of 162mph... and remember, that's surfing a tide of instant torque with none of the stepped power delivery that you get from conventional gear-changes.
These pictures show Jacky Ickx's daughter Vanina driving it around La Sarthe at the recent Le Mans Classic. Rumours abound that Citroën are seriously considering a one-make race series for the Survolt, which is very exciting news indeed and demonstrates their dedication to developing usable technology, rather than just showcasing what's theoretically possible. Let's hope it comes to fruition.
