Alfa Romeo 4C

The covers have come off the Alfa Romeo 4C at Geneva. Carrying the core values of the brand - performance, style and technical excellence - into a junior supercar package, it's certainly going to give Lotus something to worry about.
As the name suggests, it's powered by a four-cylinder engine: a turbocharged 1750cc offering something above 200bhp. The genius of the car is in its power-to-weight ratio; being constructed entirely from carbon-fibre, it weights a mere 4kg-per-horsepower (under 850kg in all), and the twin-clutch transmission and sophisticated suspension will mean it's a true driver's car. It's mid-engined, rear-wheel drive, lightweight, beautiful, comparatively economical... Alfa's 4C is pretty much the perfect sports car in all respects. When they go public in 2012, they're going to sell like hot panettone.
