Group B Celica rebuild

The Celica Twincam Turbo (TA64) was Toyota's WRC entrant in the early eighties. Despite the handicap of being rear-wheel drive in a predominantly 4WD series, it won all six African events that it was run in between 1983-6, where the stages were less tight and twisty (and therefore less suited to SWB 4WD entrants), allowing it to exploit its full 320bhp and light weight to good effect.

...and here's a stunning TA64 rebuild, carried out by Finnish outfit Makela Auto Tuning. The car in question is the ex-Björn Waldegard Celica and, as these photos demonstrate, this was no cosmetic rebuild: the car was stripped beyond its bare bones and rebuilt to better-than-new spec. The fastidious nature of the work is astounding, and it's all captured beautifully in camera. Click here for the full story, and brace yourself for nearly 800 photos...
