The start of the six-hour Le Mans Series event at the Paul Ricard circuit suffered a little setback this weekend, as the safety car forgot to leave the track as the lights turned green. The racers directly behind the car saw what was going on (i.e. that the Audi was very much still in the way), but the cars at the back of the pack floored their throttles, as is natural when the green lights come on, and carnage ensued. The start/finish straight at Paul Ricard has a bit of a hump in it, you see. Not a lot they could do.
Pretty embarrassing, that.
