Enzo Ferrari's sixties nemesis, the Ford GT40 was a car built out of pure spite. It was designed to teach the prissy Italians that passion and flair could be combatted with muscle and brute force, and it proved its point very effectively.
The example you see in these pictures is a works prototype roadster, chassis no. GT/111, which was actually built in Britain in 1965 and competed in that year's Targa Florio, where it crashed out and subsequently disappeared from the radar altogether.
...until 2006, that is, when it was discovered rusting away in an East London lock-up. Its authenticity verified, it was scrubbed up to factory-standard and has since competed in the Spa 6 Hours, Le Mans Classic and the Masters Historic Festival. And now it's up for sale.
