SuckSqueezeBangBlow is always banging on about old Escorts, and with good reason - their star shines brightly in the classic Ford constellation and, as this footage briefly demonstrates, they're pretty unstoppable on the rally stages. This 1987 video, lifted from the Ford archives, shows the evolution of the rally Escorts, through mkI and mkII and into the then-current front-wheel drive mkIIIs. Y'know, to prove that the shift from RWD wouldn't necessarily hinder their performance in the forests...
